Radio Frequency Vacuum Kiln Drying
As furniture makers, we know the importance of using dry and stable wood for long lasting projects. Because of this we purchased our own Radio Frequency Vacuum kiln. We take pride in our methods for achieving the best quality lumber not just for ourselves, but for our customers. Our prep work in achieving flat, dry and stable lumber begins as soon as we get a log with:
- Waxing and sealing ends of fresh cut log
- Milling logs to a consistent thickness
- Immediately stickering logs with Breeze Dried stickers
- Banding stickered lumber in organized boules
- Air drying before kiln drying to achieve the best color and to minimize drying defects.
All of this takes place before we ever put a load into the kiln, and when it does get loaded we:
- Only dry the same species at the same time
- Check on our load weekly to ensure effective drying
- Only dry as fast as the wood will let us
- Set the sap point of the wood
- Sanitize from bugs and disease
- Dry to single digit moisture content. (6%-9%)
